Physicians Research, 1761-1933
Scope and Content
The collection, compiled by George Andrew Miller, consists of scrapbooks and correspondence documenting the local history of Hudson, Ohio. The first scrapbook is the "Physicians of Hudson: Members of the Medical Profession who Practiced in Hudson, Ohio from 1800-1933." The collection also includes a set of lantern slides of early images of Hudson along with an image key and Miller's research. The Physicians of Hudson scrapbook includes a typed biographies of various physicians and doctors who practiced in Hudson. For many of the doctors, Miller searched through genealogical and local history records to compile a biographical sketch on the individual. Many sketches include the doctor’s date of birth date of death, schooling, dates of practice in Hudson, and other relevant information. George corresponded with living descendants, and when possible, used their information to supplement the biographical sketches. The doctors profiled in this book are individually indexed except: Dr. Austin, B. Hanson, E. Kendrick, and Dr. Tate. The lantern slides consist of a variety of scenes of early Hudson, Ohio, along with an accompanying index. The Hudson Library owns a bulk of the physical originals of the photographs reproduced on the lantern slides. Most of these photographs have been digitized and are cataloged individually in the Library's photograph database.
