George W. Gaylord letters
Scope and Content
This collection consists of two letters written by Gaylord, one undated and one dated November 17, 1861. Both letters describe his time in the Union army, his company's movements and descriptions of the various towns where he was stationed.

Biography of George W. Gaylord
George W. Gaylord was born in 1833 in Ohio. He later moved to Hudson, Ohio, and resided at 189 Aurora Street, where he lived until his death. He served as a private in the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company K during the Civil War from August 8, 1861 to July 29, 1862. He was injured at the Battle of Shiloh and died at home in Hudson on July 29, 1862.
