History of the Hudson Fire Department
On Sept. 1, 1842, the first hook and ladder company in Hudson was formed with John Buss (1811-1876) as secretary. The Fire Department was formally organized in 1849. The first structure for the department was a barn behind the Congregational church on Church Street. Later, part of the town hall (27 E. Main St.) was used for the fire department. The Hudson Fire Department has the distinction of having the first fire engine (1849) and the first fire truck (1915) in Summit County.
