Scope and Content

William Moos' 104-page scrapbook consists of 585 images of historic houses and structures in Hudson, Ohio, that Moos photographed in 1950. In the scrapbook, Moos has annotated many of the photographs with the house or structure street name. For some homes, a home owner (in 1950) has been identified.

The Moos collection also contains loose photographs. The loose photographs are either duplicates of scrapbook photographs or photographs not included in the scrapbook. The collection contains Moos' notes which list all of the properties, listed by occupant, with corresponding page number. He likely used the notes to track photos that he took and to inventory the prints and negatives.

Related Material

In 2009, the Hudson Library & Historical Society, in partnership with the Summit Memory Project (an online scrapbook capturing the history of Summit County administered by the Akron-Summit County Public Library), digitized the entire album and made it available online.

Each of the 585 house and structure records in the database has been enhanced with descriptions chronicling the homes' occupants, architectural details and modifications. The project as a whole communicates the rich history of this early northeast Ohio town. Multiple sources from the library's archives were used to gather this information, including fire department and railroad shipping records, business diaries, obituaries and property tax records. Researchers can search the database by keyword.
