Scope and Contents

The collection consists of records of the Hudson Land Conservancy as a separate organization prior to the 2006 merger. The collection contains primarily administrative records including documentation on the ad-hoc committee on land conservancy, which led to the Conservancy founding, as well as other administrative information including board minutes, newsletters, membership, documentation on several conservancy projects in the area including the Markillie Cemetery and Clinton Line Bridge projects, and photographs.

Biographical / Historical

Organization founded in 1992 dedicated to preserving natural resources for the Hudson Community through the preservation and protection of the remaining natural areas of Hudson. The Land Conservancy channeled its efforts including through educating the public about the natural environment through meetings, publications and other means, establishing working relationships with other environmental organizations and government agencies involved in the preservation and protection of natural resources, providing direction to individual landowners as to options available for preserving and protecting their land, and working with developers to suggest techniques that will best protect and enhance the land. In 2006, the Hudson (Ohio) Land Conservancy merged with seven other land preservation groups to form the Western Reserve Land Conservancy.
