Biography of Biography of the Thompson Family

The Thompson family was one of the first families to settle Hudson, Ohio. Moses Thompson (1776-1858) was born in Goshen Connecticut. In the spring of the spring of 1800, Moses came to Ohio along with Hudson's first settler, David Hudson. Moses and David helped to survey the route of two roads in the area. Moses purchased 750 acres of land in what would become Hudson Township, for himself, his father, Deacon Stephen Thompson and his brothers, Abraham and Stephen. Moses was the only physician in the Western Reserve area for 10 years. During the War of 1812, Moses was a surgeon in the Army and at the close of the war, engaged in raising and selling agricultural products in Louisville, Nashville and Huntsville. On December 22, 1797, Moses married Elizabeth Mills (1780-1850). The couple had 13 children.
