Biography of Biography of the All Aboard Hudson Organization

The Historic Railroad Depot, or the All Aboard Hudson organization was formed in 2005 by citizens in Hudson in order to save the Hudson Railroad Depot from demolition. The mission statement of All Aboard Hudson was "..to acquire, relocate and restore the historic Hudson train depot to preserve a landmark structure from Ohio's history, highlighting past use and historically significant events evolving the railroad. The Depot's restoration will provide an historic location for the creation of new memories and experiences for generations to come." The depot was located north of a railroad bridge that crosses Ohio Route 303 near Library Street.

The Hudson Depot was built in 1900. The railroad lines that the depot was located on belonged to Pennsylvania Railroad from 1871 until ownership was transferred to Penn Central in 1968. Conrail acquired the railroad company on 1976 until bought by Norfolk Southern in 1999. The Hudson Depot was once an importation junction along the Pennsylvania Railroad's line from Cleveland to Pittsburgh. During World War II, many men from the area boarded trains at the depot before leaving for Europe. The depot was still is use until about 1960, after which it became a relay station for trains passing through the area. In 1990, Conrail ceased all operations at the Hudson Depot and announced plans to demolish the station.

In 2005 All Aboard Hudson began fundraising efforts in order to collect money towards the cost of preserving and relocating the building. The organization also wished to turn the Hudson Depot into a museum and learning center located in a more accessible location. It was estimated that the relocation and restoration cost would amount to nearly half a million dollars. In 2010, All Aboard Hudson disbanded. The depot was demolished on August 30, 2013.
