History of Biography or History

In 1959, William Delbert Shilts, an executive for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, donated a parcel of land to the city of Hudson to establish a wildlife park. A park board was proposed to oversee the process with three members: J. Warner Clark, F.H. (Bill) Wood, and Edgar Limp. In the November election, the issue to create a Park Board officially passed. In June, 1961, Hudson's first park "Wildlife Woods" was established. The parks system grew as the board acquired more real estate through levies and donations (of funds and land), eventually owning over 1,000 acres of land. Currently, the Park Board consists of five to seven members appointed by Hudson City Council.
