Biography of Biography or History

Janis Margaret (née Heidenreich) Miller was born on January 9, 1922 to Allen and Dora (née Darrow) Heidenreich. She was raised in Hudson, Ohio and remained in the area for several years after reaching adulthood. In 1944, she married John Sandford. However, they were eventually divorced, and Miller moved to Washington D.C.

In 1955, she married Rayburn Miller. Her regular job was secretarial, but she also volunteered with the Washington Humane Society and was a co-compiler of the Revolutionary War Pension Index. Miller was especially involved with genealogy, working on a part-time basis for a couple genealogical societies. She even published two genealogies: Threadgills in America and Threadgills II.

Miller moved back to Hudson in 1978 and worked for Cuyahoga Valley National Park for some time. She died on June 16, 1994 after a long illness.

This information can be found in Janis H. Miller’s obituary, which is on page 23 of the June 19, 1994 issue of the Akron Beacon Journal.
