Scope and Contents
The collection is comprised of 1 volume (19 loose pages) of Alice Munson Case's handwritten recipe book. The recipes were handwritten in an account book. The pages are all loose from the binding. Recipes consist of mainly desserts including cookies, cakes, puddings and breads. Some non-desserts recipes are included (tomatoes, oysters, pickled dishes, etc.).

Biographical / Historical
Alice (Allie) Munson Case (1858-1889) married Hudsonite Eugene E. Case (1850-1903) (son of Mary Lucia Goodman Case (1829-1902 and Henry Case (1817-1890) in May 1878. Eugene was a mechanic and home builder in Hudson. In 1881, the couple moved to Alice's hometown of Mentor. Their son Robert (1883-1962) was born in 1883. Six years later Alice died after giving birth to a baby girl Alice Emma (1889-1889), who died a few months after her mother.

Custodial History
Typewritten inside the book: "1883 This receipt book was given to the Hudson Library and Historical Society by Miss Doris B. Hood. It was the property of her grandmother, Mrs. Henry Case. In this book is the receipt for Allie's "wonderful ginger cookies" mentioned in Kathy's diary. Allie is identified as Allie Munson Case and Miss Hood has also presented the library with a picture of Mrs. Allie Munson Case."
