Alice Johnson papers
Scope and Content
The collection consists of photographs, and some clippings and notes used to research and produce Johnson's "Musical Chairs on Main Street, Hudson, Ohio," book, which was published in 1979. According to the Hudson Times (October 17, 1979, p.5), the book is a compilation of "old facts, figures and information about the locations of stores which have filled the Hudson streets since the early 1900's [sic]." Johnson used old phone books and issues of the Hudson Times to track the history of the businesses on Main Street. The collection consists of over 300 photographs of Hudson scenes, places and people, many of which were used in the book. Alice's late husband Jim Johnson once worked as the photographer for the local newspaper and took most of the photographs in the book. The individual photographs have been numbered and individually cataloged. Please contact the Hudson Library & Historical Society for assistance in searching individual photographs.
