Biography of Biography or History

The Village of Hudson existed from 1837-1994, at which time it merged with Hudson Township to create the City of Hudson. After the 1990 census Hudson became a city in accordance with Ohio Revised Code section 703.1 A, which specifies that municipal corporations with five thousand or more residents must be classified as cities. This new classification was certified in a proclamation from the Secretary of State in March, 1991. The subsequent merger of the city and township followed the election in November, 1993, with the merger becoming official on January 1, 1994. Until that point both the Village of Hudson and the Hudson Township were two separate governing entities.
