Biography of Nellie Morrell

Cornelia "Nellie" Ingersoll Morrell (1858-1945), was the daughter for Daniel Dighton Morrell (1822-1904) and Mary Caroline Ingersoll (1832-1874). D.D. Morrell was elected the mayor of Hudson during the Civil War from 1882-1863. D.D. Morrell originally moved to Hudson to work in John Buss' grocery store. Morrell also worked as a ticket agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad and as a bookkeeper for Straight & Son, a local cheese company. In 1871, The Morrell family (except Nellie) moved to Henrietta Pennsylvania and D.D. later became superintendent of the Cambria Iron company. Morrell's wife, Mary died in 1874, sometime there after Daniel and the family relocated to Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

Nellie lived in Hudson until 1880 and moved to North Woodbury, Blair, Pennsylvania. While there she began to attend the University Hospital Training School, to become a nurse, graduating in 1898. While in Hollidaysburg, D.D. Dighton married Sydney H. Reamy (1843-1906). The Morrell family remained in Hollidaysburg for the remainder of their lives. Nellie died in 1945 at Hollidaysburg.
