Shelby McMillion correspondence
Scope and Content
This collection consists of approximately 200 letters written on a daily basis by Shelby McMillion to his wife, Charlotte W. McMillion, while stationed in England during World War II. These letters cover a time span from June through December, 1943. Specific dates, locations, people, and other detailed descriptions are included in Shelby's letters. Much of his writing discusses details of his daily life, usually unrelated to the military or current events. Not included are the correspondence letters written from Charlotte to her husband.

Biography of Shelby A. McMillion
Shelby A. McMillion (1907-1966), son of Newman D. and Jessie V. McMillion, was a former Hudson resident who served as a colonel in the United States Army Reserve during World War II. Shelby was stationed in England in 1943, and wrote a series of letters to his wife. Shelby was an active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, and also a 32nd degree Mason in the Akron Lodge. Shelby A. McMillion was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
