Betty Jenkins' correspondence consists primarily of letters written to her parents while a student at Ohio Wesleyan University. Charlie's letters were written to Gus while living in New Milford, Ohio; Letters written to Charlie from Gus and Arthur are also included in Charlie's correspondence file. The bulk of the collection comprises letters that Gus and Mattie wrote to each other before they were married while living in separate cities. The collection also includes a few letters from Gus' cousins Blanche and Lula of Bucklin, Missouri, some of Mattie's correspondence regarding business activities of the Order of the Eastern Star, and many addressed and stamped envelopes missing the enclosed correspondence.
