The history and background series documents the general history of the Flood Company as well as the Flood family. The series contains various newspaper articles and reports about the history of the Flood Company and its founders. The first Penetrol® order from October 16, 1934 can be found in this series (Penetrol® would later grow in notoriety and become synonymous with the Flood Company). Also included in the series is a 2001 document which lists introductory dates of various Flood products, a report on Kauri Gum by Chopp, a History of Paint, patents, and Penetrol® history. Biographies on the Flood presidents including William Flood, Earl D. Flood, Earl F. Flood, and Peter Flood can also be found in this series.
